Caltrans replaced the fence (special thanks to Floyd Hicks). Soon there will be a lovely garden instead of an eye sore.

Lighting

03-23-03
We got our upgraded lighting a couple of months ago. It really makes a huge difference. Thanks to Vern Chang, City of Oakland and thanks to everyone who signed the petition.

10-9-02
There is currently a petition circulating for increased lighting on Richmond Blvd.

It's clear that addtional lighting is needed on Richmond Blvd. and on the footpaths. If you have any ideas on this, please post on our message board.

Street Sweeping

03-23-03
After quite a few mishaps and mis-communications--including apparently losing our original copies of the signatures. The city is supposedly going to be installing new signs next week with street sweeping scheduled for twice a month.

There is currently a petition circulating for increasing street sweeping to twice a month.

This is what Richmond Blvd. looks like several hours after street sweeping takes place.

I called the city # 434-5101 and they said they would take care of it...No action as of this writing. What we really need is more frequent street sweeping.

  Spreading Woodchips Under Freeway

10-9-02
If you would like to chip in to rent a bobcat to spread out the rest of the woodchips, please contact jscascio@yahoo.com

04-22-02
The woodchips are pretty much spread out. There are still some piles that could be worked on some more.

02-10-02
Woodchips are half-way done. Photos coming soon. We're meeting again this sunday to finish it off.

12-30-01
Jim Ryugo agreed to spread out the wood chips 3 weeks ago. He didn't want to port over the dirt because we don't have a long term plan as of yet. He is also looking into who owns the property under the freeway.

Brian will take care of this with a bobcat.
Another possibility would be to bring dirt over from another site that Ali knows about.

Cool Trashcans Arrived

06-21-02
We talked about these at our initial meeting in October 2001. I actually saw a car pull over and throw something away. Locations seem pretty good.
